We ventured into the counties of Dorset and Wiltshire with their narrow country lanes. A long journey and 2 buses later I reached the University City of Cambridge. Much time was spent exploring this old City with the river Cam running through it. Then onto Wicken Fen, the 1st English Nature Reserve now managed by the National Trust.
We bypassed London, you can either go through the Dartford tunnel or over the Queen Elizabeth II bridge, and then went on to Aldeburgh a leading Port in the 16th C on the South East coast of Suffolk. It was a very cold and windy place that day.
Back to Kent I visited the home of Winston Churchill from 1924 until his death in 1965 including his artist studio and lovely gardens.
